larcore®: Aluminium honeycomb panel
larcore® is an innovative composite panel made of aluminium.
It is used in all applications where
- low weight
- very high rigidity
- high compressive strength
- 100% recyclability
- fire protection class A2 (non-combustible)
is important. Comprehensive certifications of the fire protection classes are available for non-combustibility.
larcore® panel construction
The proven structure of the larcore® aluminium honeycomb panel consists of cover sheets and a honeycomb core specially developed for larcore®.
The material for all composite components is aluminium and therefore meets the highest requirements for
- recyclability
- easy processing
- fire protection regulations
The standard alloy for the cover sheets is high-quality, resilient and seawater-resistant EN-AW 5754 (AlMg3). Lower alloyed EN-AW 5005 (AlMg1) is available on request. The honeycomb core is made from a corrosion-resistant alloy EN-AW 3003 (AlMn1Cu).
The manufacturing process
larcore® aluminium honeycomb panel is manufactured in a unique plant operated by Alucoil in the north of Spain in Rioja. The aluminium honeycomb core is automatically expanded in a sophisticated process and drawn to the final cell size. The cover sheet adhesive is then applied, joining the cover sheets with the honeycomb core to form the final aluminium honeycomb sandwich. The sandwich is then pressed into the aluminium honeycomb panel in a continuous press.
Variety of surfaces: Coatings
larcore® aluminium honeycomb composite panels with a primed surface on both sides are available directly from stock in various dimensions. You can find the Hartmann product range overview here. With this surface, larcore® can be used directly for lightweight, invisible structural substructures. Alternatively, primed larcore® aluminium lightweight panels are ideal for further lamination with CPL, HPL or other surface materials. It goes without saying that primed larcore® panels can also be painted.
Hartmann can also offer larcore® painted in the factory on request. Various RAL and special colours are possible, minimum quantities apply. We will be happy to advise you!
